So you’re ready to launch your own line. Whether you’re a retailer looking to expand, a run club aiming for merch, or a brand that’s tired of reselling someone else’s logo—private label is your way in. At Sky Manufacturing, we make the process simple, structured and (dare we say) fun. Here’s how to get started:
1. Define Your Brand
Every strong product line starts with a story. What does your brand stand for? Who are you speaking to? Are you about everyday basics, performance gear or lifestyle staples? Defining your identity up front makes the design process smoother and ensures your customers know exactly what they’re buying into.
2. Identify Your Market
Next, figure out who you’re building for. Are you targeting runners, weekend warriors, or everyday lifestyle wearers? Knowing your customer base helps you pick the right product mix, price point and styles to maximize sell-through.
3. Choose Your Path: Catalog or Cut & Sew
Sky offers two ways to build your line:
- Private Label Catalog: Pre-set styles, evergreen core + seasonal colors, quick turnarounds, and low minimums ($1,000). Perfect for repeat retail or first-timers.
- Cut & Sew: Fully custom styles, unlimited color options, and the best pricing at scale. Requires higher minimums ($5,000) and longer lead times, but gives you maximum design freedom.
4. Select Your Products
From apparel to hats to socks, we’ll help you pick the right lineup. Core staples? Seasonal color pops? A statement piece for a special event? You can mix and match to fit your market and margin goals.
5. Get Your Designs Ready
Already have artwork? Great! Need help? Not every brand has in-house design bandwidth when they need it most, so we built customizable templates you can make your own. Either way, we’ll make sure your product looks cohesive across the collection.
6. Place Your Order
With your products and designs locked, it’s time to roll. Our low order minimums make it easy to start small, test the waters, and grow as demand builds.
7. Production & Delivery
Once your order’s in, we handle the heavy lifting: sourcing, production, shipping and customs. Catalog orders typically deliver in 4–7 weeks, while Cut & Sew runs take 8–12. Either way, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
8. Launch & Build Your Community
When the boxes arrive, your work really begins: storytelling, merchandising and getting the product into your customers’ hands. Private label isn’t just about clothes - it’s about building loyalty and creating touchpoints that strengthen your brand.
The Bottom Line
Private label is your chance to build a brand that feels authentic, cohesive, and profitable - without getting buried in manufacturing headaches. Sky makes it easy to start small, scale smart and create gear your customers will keep coming back for.
